STEAM Programmes

The LOETB STEAM Programme is a collaborative educational initiative by the Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB) and local councils (Loais & Offaly) that provides training and equipment for students in LOETB schools to engage in S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) activities. At Dunamase College we run the four different STEAM Programmes Podcasting, VEX Robotics, LEGO League and Minecraft, fostering creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
2024/2025 STEAM Programme Launch
Our school held the launch for the 2024/2025 STEAM programme launch where many visitors including students and staff from various LOETB schools and LOETB representatives visited the school.

Podcasting
Podcasting has been a great success in Dunamase College, with our students winning the overall prize at the LOETB STEAM showcase event 2024.Our students took top honours in the overall Podcast competition for their brilliant ‘Dunamase Diaries’ podcast.
VEX Robotics
VEX IQ Robotics is based on plastic, snap-together pieces specifically designed to build highly functional robots. In the VEX IQ Competition teams of students are tasked with designing and building a robot to play with other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more. The Dunamase College team has also had recent success, after winning the local competition, they made it to the national final coming in 2nd place.
Minecraft
Our Minecraft team won their award for the Minecraft creation of the Round Towers in Timahoe.
